Transforming how businesses interact with government online

Our goal

An easy to find ‘front door’ to personalised information, services, and support for businesses. We’ll improve user journeys and business success through less time spent searching for essential information and support services.

What this means for your business

This initiative is UK-wide.

  • Increased efficiency: if you own, run or act on behalf of a business, you’ll find it quicker and easier to connect with government to complete tasks across multiple services, allowing more time to focus on growth.
  • Improved support: it’ll be easier to navigate services and access government support at every stage of your business.
  • Secure access: using a trusted login will help minimise errors and save time across government business services, as well as helping to combat fraud.

Our progress so far

It’s now easier for businesses to access the right support, at the right time, in the right way. This is because we’ve brought business support offers together in one trusted service; the Business Growth Service, on business.gov.uk, which helps businesses start, scale, and succeed (both in the UK and abroad).

Businesses can more quickly access the right support because business.gov.uk now includes an AI summary tool which shares the different funding options available.

To save businesses time and support their growth, a webchat trial with 5,000 exporters is testing approaches to making it easier for them to find answers to their questions. If the trial is found to be a success, webchat could be expanded to domestic businesses.

To understand how a more personalised experience through GOV.UK and its channels could be delivered, detailed research with businesses and across government was undertaken; exploring the potential of a single login and account for businesses to access government services and information.

What we’re planning to do next

Working towards the aim of delivering a seamless and personalised experience for businesses, our next phase of work will develop the functionality of business.gov.uk. We’ll test solutions to help businesses overcome challenges, using data to anticipate user needs and preferences. More detailed plans, created by working closely with businesses, will be shared during 2026.
